Has Your Home or Apartment Ever Had a Water Damage?

Has Your Home Or Apartment Ever Had Water Damage?

If so, how bad did the water affect the building?  Was the apartment or home dried out properly?

If the home was not dried out properly, you may have Mold issues.  Also, you also might or could have issues with Termites if you had Water Damage and Water Damage was not performed properly.

Think safety.  Think wood. Think health.  Consider getting your home inspected and tested for Mold.  If you have visible Mold issues, that is one thing.  But, what is going on in the air.  What is the Indoor Air Quality like?

Do Crawl Spaces Need A Vapor Barrier?

I strongly recommend a Vapor Barrier in a Crawl Space, states Inspector David Snell with Executive Restoration LLC.  WWW.ExecutiveRestoration.com

The reason for this is to contain the vapor from the Crawl Space, from moving upward with Moisture into the Crawl Space into the joists and Sub floor of the Home or building. High Humidity is not good for the Crawl Space and this leaves and contains the Moisture to the floor of Crawl Space Humidity and Moisture under the plastic sheeting also known as The Vapor Barrier.

Has your home had water damage that you know of?

Has your home ever had water damage when you filed a claim and your insurance company and they said  that they would send out one of there people?
Their approved list? Who approved them? You or the insurance company? Of course you did not approve them so why is the insurance company sending out a water damage company that is on their list?  Unless, you asked for someone the insurance company referred! Did you know that you can use who, you, want to use unless, your home owners insurance policy states some thing differently!

It is very important that after you have a water damage job that you check the air by having a mold sampling done via air and have it sent off to a lab for the testing and results.  Have an inspector check the water damage work with moisture level reading with penetrating and non penetrating moisture level readings who ever you use for your water damage job and make sure the job has been performed properly as well as make sure the job is dry or else you will have mold issues and if you have mold issues, you will incur more costs if the job is not dried out properly and the moisture is not removed from the building properly with fans and air movers/fans.  Also, get an infrared scan also known as a thermal scan to your walls and ceilings of your home.
